Director of Operations – Elevators

Our client, a leader in the commercial elevator business, is looking for a Director of Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for acquiring modernization and maintenance contracts and managing elevator technicians in the field. Our client is one of the largest elevator independent service contractors in the Washington, DC, area. This position reports to the Vice President of the company.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Union Elevator field employees (65-70).
  • Manage the construction of large elevator modernization projects.
  • Oversees and communicates work to Field Supervisors.
  • Communicate schedules, updates, and changes to all staff.
  • Coordinate and manage job site logistics.
  • Oversee field supervisors, warehouse managers, and technical staff.
  • Oversees work in progress and billing phases.
  • Hiring and facilitating the training of employees.
  • Manage and Coordinate new sales Maintenance, Service, Modernization, and New Construction.
  • Progress Billing of Modernization and Construction Projects.
  • Fleet management of vehicles.
  • Implementation and Oversight of safety plans/requirements in the workplace and field.

Experience/Education:

  • 10+ years of elevator maintenance/modernization projects in a supervisor role.
  • Elevator Field Experience.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Experience in project planning, management, and execution.
  • Experience working with the Federal Government, including the required reporting.
  • Negotiation skills with Government and Private sector.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of elevators.
  • Proven organizational, management, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • Experience in the bidding process, ability to comprehend specs, and prepare submittals.
  • Ability to plan, prepare, and run a meeting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office.
  • Knowledge of Total Service Software is a plus.
  • Experience in all phases of elevator construction, work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
