Network Engineer

We have an opportunity for a Network Engineer II. In this role you will install, configure, and support an organization’s local area network (LAN) connected, wide area network (WAN) connected complex internet computing and network system. Monitor network activity to ensure network confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance. May monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption. May complete network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications. May supervise computer user IT support specialists and computer network support specialists. May administer network security measures utilizing approved cyber security tools.

Working Procedure:

  • Design and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data and software
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software
  • Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use
  • Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future
  • Arrange scheduled upgrades
  • Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in software or computer science, or related field. Equivalent amount of education and experience may be substituted. CCNA certification preferred. Security+ or Network+ certification required or be able to attain within 6 months of hire.

Experience Requirement: Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience. Candidates must have a practical, working knowledge of the setup and configuration of computer networks including basic communication protocols, security, and backup of data.
